Pupil Premium
'Pupil Premium provides money based on the number of pupils eligible for free school meals (this will soon be based on Universal Credit), £300 for each eligible child for early years, £1,320 for primary aged pupils and £935 for secondary aged pupils. There is also Pupil Premium available to schools for pupils from service families, £300 for each eligible pupil, and £2,300 for those in care to the local authority and those who have been adopted from care.
The funding is spent how the school likes to support pupils from low-income families, service families and children in care to close the attainment gap between them and their peers.' (Somerset Council Website)
Free School Meals
Free school meals are available to children across the whole school whose parents qualify by meeting the relevant criteria.
Parents/carers who receive any of the following are entitled to free school meals for their child:
- Income Support
- Employment & Support Allowance (Income Related) – no Contribution related
- Income-based Job Seekers Allowance – not Contribution based
- Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Child Tax Credit, providing you do not also receive Working Tax Credit, with an annual taxable income (as assessed by HMRC) of less than £16,190
- Universal Credit
If you have recently become unemployed, but are still receiving Working Tax Credits, you may be entitled to free school meals.
If you believe you are entitled under the above criteria, please speak to Mrs Magrath or Mrs Cherry in the school office, in confidence, in the school office and we will provide you with an application form. If your application is successful, you may also be able to receive financial support for school trips in addition to your child receiving free meals.
The school also receives additional funding for pupils in receipt of Free School Meals under these criteria – if you think you are currently eligible, please contact the school office and submit your application so that the school can process your application.
